Microsoft has been calling the white version of Zune "cotton" instead of white. LOL. That really separates it from iPod's patented white!!!
Now, in this forum, we've been dishing a lot of grief about that other Zune color: brown.
Even if M'soft sticks with that color, you'd think they'd come up with a better term to describe it.
You know, like "earth" or something like that.
Are M'soft's marketeers asleep at the wheel?

i have to agree... the color names stink.
"chocolate" might've been a good name for the brown one... if verizon weren't already selling that sleek black "chocolate" phone/mp3 player already.
what microsoft should've done is come out with six colors... black, white, and the four colors of the microsoft logo.

Call it anything but "brown".
I can see it now:
Zune: comes in your choice of black, cotton, or paper bag.

If they play with the pigment a bit, maybe it could be "copper" or "bronze". That might up the cool quotient.

Did anyone else see the Zune haiku post, that someone sent in from Zunerama:
It drives me crazy. Ev'ryone thinks iPod's cool. Hey, Zune comes in brown!
A classic. It's on the zuneinsider site.

I saw that haiku on insider. There are some good ones there - and a lot of terrible ones too.
Here's my attempt, for your critical review:
Zune: the first player that's especially designed for the color-blind.

For the younger, sk8trboy set, how 'bout:
"Zune. Available now in pavement black, sidewalk white, and scraped-off-your-shoe brown."

When I first heard cotton, I thought that maybe it was an attempt to be politically correct! If that's the case, maybe the colours should be Caucasian, African American and Native American. Maybe this is Microsoft's way of broadening their selling horizons!
