Round 2 and ten songs made it through including ties.  Please vote for you top 4 songs and voting will end on 10-21-08 @ 9 pm central time.  Round 3 will then be posted and a winner will be picked in Round 4.

1.  Vote for you favorite songs on the list.  You have 4 seprate votes to cast.  Voting is open to everybody.

2.  Voting ends 10-21-08 @ 9 pm central time.

3.  The top 4 songs will move on to Round 3.

Once this battle is over battle 2 will begin.  If you want to participate in battle 2 submit you song to me via pm with the subject line Battle 2.  I will take the first 16 entries.  I only recieved 10 songs for the first battle so if you would like to submit 2 songs that would be ok.

This one was a little easier for me, since I of course had already heard them all. There were only a couple I really had to listen to again to determine which one to vote for.
I listened to all 8 again, though! These are great tunes! Tbird is right, it is SOO much better than Picks!

You are correct when say that this is better than picks.  It is nice to have a playlist constructed by those who listen to music then just some program that generates a list based on songs you listen to.

I understand what you are saying about the length of time and maybe next time we will keep it open longer.  This is just the first time so it is kind of an work in progress.  However, for the first round there were like 365 page views in the three days that voting was open and only 9 people voted.  I wish more people would join in and vote for the songs.  On top of that I only had 10 people suggest songs so I am looking for more participation.  Hopefully this grows bigger and more diverse becuase I think this is a great way to find more music.

I thought things were pretty clear, but I knew what was going on from the beginning. I can see how someone who didn't know what was going on could become a bit confused.
Anyway....What I like about this is you get to sample all kinds of music that people are actually listening too. For example I never in a million years would have stumbled across Jack's Mannequin had it not been for this musical face off! And thanks to the pass I have been able to listen to earlier albums from them.
IMHO this really puts the social into the social! Even though my tunes appear to be losing out , my hat is off to you ballbagcheese for getting this going.

Speaking of fuller structure. Hows about we try to get a more personal, and thereby competitive tweak to the submissions by adding a few comments on why we choose to share the song. Context is always key to understanding.
