Zune HD Video Hands On on VimeoThe device is tighter and more physically beautiful than the iPod Touch and it's got a better UI, the main menu's scrolling so natural through the swipe gestures. There's a little note on the side, under the volume toggle—"Hello from Seattle." The power button is up top. The home button is nice and prominent, a bar rather than a round button on the Touch. It's smaller. And the accelerometer is more swift in responding to repositioning; images rotate very fast. And check out the huge image gallery showing off the ZuneHD at Gizmodo! Fixed links. - Admin

Nice. UI is looking good, almost like your digging down in a 3D space, using the same category switch interface that sold me on a gigabyte years ago. Looks to retain its intuitive navigation too. Also, what in the tarnation is that icon off to the side here in this photo? Is the side of the bottom of the Zune a touch pad, is it back lit? http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/zunehdhands1/1008470932

Notice how they make sure not to scroll down the full menu? Got some surprises I am sure left to see.

I bet that pins function is for you're favorites for quick access? Say someone wanted tool and hated scrolling all the way through their 400 artists just to get the bottom, this could be like a quick way to get to it. Absolutely wild guess though.

Pins. That's a good question. It's new, and a total mystery. Wondering that myself.

What would be cool if is it used ZMP to find a List of Related Artists/Albums, and store it in the metadata. Then the firmware would check to see if you had those albums, and create a "Related" section.

I think you're on the money. Aggregated favorites for easy access, "pinned" up top. Hope it's customizable.

It does look very nice and from the video at least easy to use. I wonder though why they didn't show what a video or a game would look like on it. Makes me wonder if they are still tweaking with it. I would have scrolled down and got into settings to see what the storage capacity is, but that's just me.

If Pins is what I think it might be (my PDA Smartphone as/had software that allowed your to "pin" favorite applications to the desktop area or launcher) you could set up a number of favorite albums, videos, etc to just be a single click away rather than scrolling through lists and screens.
If you could do that in the desktop software, you could pin recently downloaded albums, something I would like now (the desktop can show you "Most recently added..." where as the device doesn't) With thousands of tunes, artists, albums, eventually it is hard to find some things.

I want this very badly, and I very much hope that it is the case.
