This kid I know had his zune stolen out of his backpack a few months ago and asked him for the id and today at school i turned on my wifi and amazingly it was on there, i tracked him down and got him to confess, the kid didn't know how to put music on it, or find the ID, or turn off wifi. I gave it back to the kid and he was ecstatic! Score one for the good guys.

Wow, awesome job! I'm curious, though: how did turning on the Wi-Fi show you where he was?

Because your able to see near-by Zune users. And if they have 'detail' turned on it even displays the name of the Zune(along with what they are doing i.e. what song, watching movie ect).

Great story. It is great to see good Samaritans helping Zune owners. An Ipod user would have never done that for a fellow Ipod user. Kudos

This should be on TV....some good news...superb EXCELLENT history.
But few concerns first. How do he keep the Zune charged with WiFi on after all these months ? does he robbed the sync cable, too ? (he should be some dumb. with cable and internet connection you can use the ZMP to change songs and even the Zune ID)

Thanks AK - I hadn't noticed that 'til I saw your post. Pretty funny write-up from engadget, I thought.
