I was hoping the zune 80 would have a feature like that. Both HD and 2 gigs of Flash. I think that would greatly increase battery life, because if you are going to watch a movies or music form your playlist, your Hd can pre load it on the Flash drive. this the hd would still spin a idle seed incase you want to pause the movie and look at pics, etc, but not having the HD spinning all the top should help alot. But maybe the zune 80 has a big buffer with woould be more more cost efficient Smiley

Great idea it can load songs onto the flash memory that are currently playing or will play next so that way the hard drive has to spin up less and it would also improve the speed of the device.

This is a very cool idea. I read that new computers are starting to implement hybrid drives too. Speeds up boot times and application launches.

Yeah you will see that become increasingly more popular, and once flash memory gets cheap enough you will see Solid State Drives replace hard drives in PCs.  It will take some time though.

Yes, your right about that. I Think microsoft will make the move to the Flash HD Zunes and by 2009the HD will be in the past. But right now its not really practicale for a PMP device if you want storage for alot of media. Once you see the Flash HD get cheaper and be able to make 30g plus cheaply is when you going to see the the Rise of Flash PMP. The prices on Flash HD makes it to expenisive to add other featuers that HD PMP drives can offer
