My 2 cents..... real or not, its freaking sweet looking! All this thread is doing is making it harder for me to wait for the new version....... and jealous that I didn't accidentally get it leaked to me first!! Actually, me too. I really like the minimalist approach to the software. It's begging me, right now to explore it.

This isn't a very technological argument, but Windows Vista would probably render a shadow along the side and edge if it were legit....
This is false, the Zune Program custom draws it's User Interface. This is the same for Safari on Vista, and iTunes on Vista. I'm calling this 100% legit.

the fact that the OP isn't sensationalistic or drawing attention to itself, but merely asking if anyone else got it, also leads me to believe that there is no way this is fake...

Yeah I have no shadow around the Zune software in Vista. Most programs yes, but Zune software, no.

The responses aren't ridiculous and people chop things up all the time in an effort to deceive strangers. I can't say whether your software is legit or not, but there are more signs that point to fake. At the very least, I would bet it wasn't pushed via Windows Update. *sigh* I love how people always assume the worst and that everything is a conspiracy. When did everyone start wearing the tin foil hats? "You can't fault people for being skeptical."Sure you can. Once you start criticizing others then you are instantly open to being criticized yourself. People want to doubt him then he has every right to doubt them in return. "Typically this stuff lands on a gadget site very quickly."Just how do you think this stuff ends up on gadget sites? By people like the poster dropping some info in a forum like this. In fact that's exactly what happened as now this forum is linked via Engadget or Gizmodo, can't remember which. "Then there is the enhanced console"Yes, because straight cmd is pretty barebones so most people that run in DOS a lot tend to use a better shell, like PowerShell or Console. Ever actually checked out Console? "... ***TEST*** Zune titlebar"How is something that many developers, including myself, do as standard practice a sign that this thing is fake? Almost all software I write has "BETA" or "TEST" or "DEBUG" in the title before it actually goes RTM. "...and "evaluation copy" wallpaper on your screenshot, which may indicate you're a tinkerer."Since you probably don't really keep up with much Windows news, which is understandable, then you probably didn't realize that "Evaluation" build 6001 is Vista SP1 Beta, which is what I'm running and about a quarter of Vista users are as well since it's pretty cake to get into the beta program. Go looking at SP1 screenshots, it's in all of them in the lower right-hand corner. "I don't mean any offense, but I have no reason to believe you because I don't know you."Ahh, so that's how it is these days, we instantly distrust people until they've worked their way into our inner circle. I get what you're trying to say, sorta, but you could have at least made some points that were valid. So far nothing has pointed to these being fake except some huge stretches of the imagination. On top of all that it's not like these are faked pictures of the moon landing, there is actually very little importance to whether these are real or not.

Some of the responses on this thread are absolutely ridiculous. I have no desire to deceive strangers on the Internet as to the version of my Zune software. I came here with information hoping someone else would have seen this update and gotten it to function, since it isn't functioning for me outside of viewing my library. If it takes a full screenshot to prove I'm not making this up, see below: http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/9569/zunefullrj8.jpgAfter that, believe me or don't believe me, it doesn't matter. I was just hoping for some help from a community dedicated to Zune users, but if no one has any, thanks anyway for checking out my posts, and I hope you enjoyed getting a preview of what's to come. We already know for a fact that we'll all be seeing this update sometime next month anyway. Complete fake unless you can answer me something, why is the desktop non-pixelated but yet the Zune software is? It looks like a cut and paste with a low res image

I can not recall any screenshots of the Zune software and new marketplace being made to the public that show theme that close. Yes, he could have faked or made a screenshot but if you follow that logic why wouldn't he have simple also pasted album art and added band names to make it an even better leak, easy becuase it's the real deal. Thanks for sharing your experience with the new software with us, and if you come across anything else interesting be sure to post it at here!

If you're talking about the .JPG artifacting, take a closer look at the rest of the picture. If you have a sharp enough monitor you'll notice that the artifacting is in other areas as well; it just happens to show up a bit more in the Zune software. If you meant something else, by all means, please clarify.

It looks like a cut and paste with a low res image yeah, cause image compression never produces strange stuff, i cannot imagine why something which is predominantly white would compress like that... sheesh man, the white of the zune software would have compressed at a much higher rate, as there is less "data" there. Which would explain this pixelation...

I found it ironic that one of the songs listed is entitled "A Chronicle of Early Failures"

I went back to Zune 1.3, and so far, I haven't received the update again. I'm afraid that I'm stuck with the current version until next month. If I should get an update again, especially with a working copy, I will let you guys know.
