Exclusive: Incipio's Metal Case for Zune 80GB and 8/4GB
I have just spent a very enjoyable evening testing and photographing Incipio's soon-to-be-released metal cases for Zune. In this Zunerama exclusive (thanks, Incipio!), you'll see why the fit, finish, and overall form of these cases is something to be excited about.
I received six cases from Incipio: three each for my Zune 80GB cases and Zune 8GB/4GB players. Both cases have a clear front shield that protects the screen, and open access to buttons and touch pad.
They are feather-light cases - made of very thin anodized aluminum - that add little weight and almost no bulk to your player. Below is a shot of my 80GB settled into the lower half of the metal case.
What will really wow you, though, is the finish. These cases are really eye-popping - some of the most beautiful cases I've seen and held.
I can't decide if I like the antique copper best, or the pink. Others may prefer the gleaming chrome or more matte-like black. The rich colors look great on the anodized finish.
The upper and lower halves of the case slide together precisely, with a groove guiding the two pieces together. A pair of circular nubs in the base settle into openings on the top half to secure the two pieces together. 80GB and 4GB/8GB versions shown below.
You can switch between a spring-clasp belt clip and a kickstand. A gnurled screw holds the clip in place. Here I'm using a penny to unscrew the kickstand.
As far as I have seen, this is the first kickstand case for a flash Zune - great for comfortable viewing angles for videos and slideshows. The kickstand holds the player up either vertically or horizontally. Zune 80GB and 8GB cases shown below.
Here's a close-up of the sturdy belt clip.
A soft interior of foam padding protects your Zune from things that go bump (or scratch). Very important when one of your Zunes sports a Zune Originals engraving.
Generous cutaways allow easy access for sync cable and headphone jack. You can actually work the hold switch through this case's opening, unlike many.
The case arrives with the protective screen covered in acetate on both sides. A nit: in peeling off the acetate, I had to pick it off in little pieces as some of it was tucked in between the screen and the body of the case.
An opening below the screen shield provides direct access to the touch pad and the player's Back and Play/Pause buttons.

Those are nice. But hot dang! I like that copper finish.

As with all Incipio cases, these metal cases come with a lifetime warranty. These unique cases are well-made, functional and striking in appearance - and we're giving these our Recommended by Zunerama rating.
